Welcome to Chicago
about 6 years ago – Sun, Mar 11, 2018 at 08:35:00 AM

Good morning Jacks and Jills (and everyone else),

I’m writing this from a local convention where I’ll be running a special CAPERS event in a bit over three hours. But I got up early just to talk to you.

We’ve hit the second stretch goal! Chicago will get the full CAPERS treatment and we’ll add a few more powers for players to enjoy. Thank you all so much for getting us here. The entire CAPERS team loves you guys.

The Jacks and Jills backer level filled up inside of a day. This means that some Gangster level slots opened up as a few people upgraded. So if you want your pretty mug in the book doing some cool 1920s superpower stuff, give the Gangster level a look.

New Stretch Goal

Time for another stretch goal, set at $5200. Atlantic City, New York, and Chicago are already getting the full treatment. With this goal, we’ll add short write-ups of six other cities. Enough to inspire you about what you might do there. Each is chock full of plot hooks.

Additionally, we’ll add in character rules for powered gear (so you can get your Tony Stark on) and rules for non-powered characters that can hold their own against powered characters (Batman anyone?)

CAPERS Q&A

I’ve scheduled a Q&A with me, artist Beth Varni, graphic designer Owen St.Gelais, and cartographer/layout dude Mike Brock for Saturday, Mar 17, at 1pm Eastern time.

It’ll be hosted by Sean and his Power Score twitch channel.

Sean’s a fan and has generously donated his time and channel to helping you ask questions of me and some of the team. If you have questions you’d like us to address, post them to the Comments section of the Kickstarter page. You can also watch the stream and post to the chatroom during the Q&A.

It’s also worth noting that we are officially at 200% funding, which is a nice round number that my organized brain likes. So again, thanks so much!

You are all the cat’s meow.

Game on,

Craig

PS Make sure to check the Podcasts and Actual Play section at the bottom of the Kickstarter page for links to podcasts, blogs, and some actual play of CAPERS.

Welcome to New York
about 6 years ago – Sat, Mar 10, 2018 at 12:59:41 PM

Hey there, Macs and Janes,

Stretch goal #1 is a reality. More powers. All sorts of New York City info. Thanks so much for helping make this happen!

New Stretch Goal

The next stretch goal ($4200) is similar to the first one. It’ll get a few more powers into the game along with a full write-up of Chicago. Your character can meet Al Capone. And be murdered by him.

Everything’s going strong, but everyone can use some help sometime. If you dig CAPERS, share the Kickstarter around with your friends. And your enemies, for that matter.

New Backer Level – Jacks and Jills

There’s a problem I sometimes run into with Kickstarters I’m interested in backing. I find the Kickstarter after it’s been going for a while and a backer level that I would have LOVED is limited and already filled up. I’m sure some of you have run into this as well.

Keeping this in mind, there’s a new backer level going up at 8pm Eastern on Thursday, March 8. It’s called Jacks and Jills, it’s the big backer level for this campaign, and it’s limited to four slots. I’m putting it up a few days into the campaign so that I can announce it like this and give more people a shot at it (not just the few people who find the campaign in the first hours). Here’s the text from the Jacks and Jills backer level.

-----

You’ll get everything from the Bootlegger level.

In addition, you’ll help design an important NPC to be featured in the book. We need three gangsters and one federal agent. The earlier you back, the better choice you get.

You’ll work with the designer to develop the character. The character will get a full stat block and two paragraphs of description. Your likeness (or that of someone else, with their permission) will be used for this character in a small, portrait illustration in the book as well as one of the jacks in the playing card deck. And you'll receive a high-resolution image file of your illustration for your own personal use.

We will contact you shortly after you back at this level to confer about your character. Please respond promptly. You must provide all character information requested by midnight Eastern time on Thursday, April 19th, 2018. Failure to do so will result in your character not being included in the game and no refund will be given. Character idea is subject to designer’s approval.

See the "Your Likeness in an Illustration" section on the main page before taking this backer level. You must abide by the rules defined there.

Finally, you won’t have to buy your book and cards. I’ll order them, sign the book, and ship everything to you. If you get any physical book/card add-ons, I can print/ship those as well, though you may incur a slight upcharge if you want more than two or three additional items.

-----

If this backer level interests you, check back at 8pm Eastern on Thursday, March 8 and grab it. I won’t be sending an update to let people know it’s up. I’ll just open the backer level up then.

If you want to upgrade your current pledge, click the Manage Your Pledge button in the upper right corner of the Kickstarter page.

CAPERS Setting Excerpt

I’ve had a request for a little of the lore of the CAPERS setting. So I’ve put together a couple pages to whet your appetites. You can download them HERE. Keep in mind these are just snippets. There’s much more to be discovered in the world of CAPERS.

If you’re a Twitter-bug, I’m @NerdBurgerCraig. And you can check out the web page for other NerdBurger Games stuff HERE.

Thanks again. You’re helping make CAPERS the bee’s knees.

Funded!
about 6 years ago – Tue, Mar 06, 2018 at 08:53:35 PM

Here’s lookin’ at you, all you Jills and Jacks,

We did it! Base funding goal hit in under six hours. On behalf of the entire crew, thank you!

Now we push toward the first stretch goal ($3200), to help make the book bigger. This one expands the book by adding some more powers and a complete write-up on New York City. Pretty ritzy place!

Plus, just a heads-up, there will be a bunch of pre-generated character sheets put together for the PDF support materials. Perfect for those folks who want to jump right in without looking (or spending time making a character).

If you have any questions or just want to chat about CAPERS, pop into the Comments area and post there. I’ll be keeping an eye on it.

We’re hitting on all sixes now!

Hey there Macs and Janes,

By my clock, at fifty minutes in, we are halfway funded!

Thanks so much for your support and I'll be in touch again soon. For now, it's back to promo stuff. Wish me luck.
